Rhythm Dialogues is a new platform for creative exchange. Working at the intersection of social urgencies and multiple art forms— dance, music, art, poetry, philosophy, film, design – it seeks to create space for individuals and artists to transcend creative boundaries through open-ended experimentation.
A multi-faceted project, it includes a mobile artist-residency housed in a re-designed 1974 Airstream; a series of biannual “Convergences” that bring together some of the most celebrated artists, designers, writers, and thinkers to explore a broad range of topics; and its archival and publishing arm,11:11 RD Editions.
Through its interdisciplinary approach, Rhythm Dialogues hopes to create a space that embraces uncertainty, ambiguity, contradictions and questions – charting us towards possible futures.
Residency
The Rhythm Dialogues residency program is aimed at emerging as well as established artists, designers and cultural practitioners. The program provides a redesigned 1974 Airstream to serve as a mobile lab for the investigation of ideas and encounters within ever-changing contexts.
Taking place over one month every year, participants in the program are selected by invitation and in response to an annual open call. Both medium and format agnostic, the residency culminates in a public installation, screening, exhibition, writing or any other expression chosen by the artist.
Convergence
On an annual basis, Rhythm Dialogues hosts a two-day forum designed to yield new creative approaches, philosophical insights and political reflections in response to themes inspired by pressing social issues yet otherwise open in content and form.
Encuentros
Envisioned as circular encounters, Encuentros provides the opportunity for shared artistic interplay, spontaneous co-creation and debate – intentionally shifting both form and place.
11:11 RD Editions
11:11 RD Editions serves as the publishing arm and archive of Rhythm Dialogues. It aims to both document and reimagine new ways of engaging with art, culture and our collective social structures. It will release both limited-edition physical publications and objects as well as maintain an open-source digital archive of all RD’s undertakings online. The guiding ethos behind 11:11 RD is to create lasting, essential records of artists’ work and ideas – ones that will document, inspire and evoke.
